2009 Parade Theme
Harrisburg Celebrates a World of Holiday
Traditions!
The Mayor again welcomes thousands of City residents, regional visitors and tourists to Downtown Harrisburg on Saturday November 21 for the 2009 Harrisburg Holiday Parade that marks the start of the 2009 Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanzaa, and New Year Season.
The parade is scheduled to begin at 10:00 AM. Forming on City Island, the parade proceeds east to Market Square, where the judges and broadcasting review stands are located. The Parade then travels north on N. 2nd Street to North St., turns west on North St. to Front St., and then south on Front S. to the Market St. Bridge, where it turns west back to City Island to disband. PARKING
Parking is not available on City Island due to Parade formation activity. Parking will be available at the Market Square Garage (2nd and Chestnut Streets). Parking will also be available in the Walnut Street, Chestnut Street (4th and Chestnut Streets), and River Street Garages at regular rates. STREET CLOSURES
Parade route street closures will begin at 7:00 AM and run through 1:00 PM Affected roadways include all lanes of the Market Street Bridge, the north and south parking lots on City Island, N. Front Street from Forster to Market Street, Market Street from Front to 2nd Street, N. 2nd Street from Chestnut to North Street, and North Street from N. 2nd Street to N. Front Street. Motorists and especially owners of parked cars are warned that parking is prohibited after 7:00 AM along any of the parade route streets, with violators not only ticketed, but also towed.
