An exciting weekend of activities for the whole family, Harrisburgs Kipona Festival celebration has been named one of the top five festivals in Pennsylvania.
The Kipona Celebration features a variety of food, childrens theatres, educational activities, arts & crafts, boat races, sporting events, concerts, and other family activities. One of the oldest waterfront festivals in the United States, Kipona hosts the March of Dimes Rubber Duck Regatta; Kipona Artfest; the Kipona Canoe Races; the Pennsylvania State Chili Cook-Off; the Footbag Tournament; and the Breath of Nature Karate Tournament.
The festival also presents the renowned Kipona Fireworks display, the largest in Pennsylvania. The Kipona Fireworks display envelopes Harrisburgs City Island in a shower of brilliant sparks extending over 400 feet into the sky, and visible 20 miles away. This exciting display of fireworks, is synchronized to a live-music radio simulcast, and is professionally recorded by a local television station for rebroadcast.
