ABOUT KIPONA
August 30 through
September 1, 2008
An exciting weekend of activities for the whole family, Harrisburg’s Kipona Festival celebration has been named one of the top five festivals in Pennsylvania.

The Kipona Celebration features a variety of food, children’s theatres, educational activities, arts & crafts, boat races, sporting events, concerts, and other family activities. One of the oldest waterfront festivals in the United States, Kipona hosts the March of Dimes Rubber Duck Regatta; Kipona Artfest; the Kipona Canoe Races; the Pennsylvania State Chili Cook-Off; the Footbag Tournament; and the Breath of Nature Karate Tournament.

The festival also presents the renowned Kipona Fireworks display, the largest in Pennsylvania. The Kipona Fireworks display envelopes Harrisburg’s City Island in a shower of brilliant sparks extending over 400 feet into the sky, and visible 20 miles away. This exciting display of fireworks, is synchronized to a live-music radio simulcast, and is professionally recorded by a local television station for rebroadcast.
