Dr. King’s Peace of Mind

I believe Martin Luther King thought we should live in a non-violent, loving, equal, judgment free nation. Martin Luther King believed in fighting for your rights but he fought with words not his hands. There is a lot of violence in America and it does not have to be like this. Martin Luther King wanted to prevent violence from occurring, that is why he made speeches and tried to get America to understand what could happen if we would just change. Everyday someone in America dies because of drugs, rape, money or abuse in a relationship. People obviously did not get what Martin Luther King was trying to tell our country years ago because violence is growing everyday in society.
I also believe Martin Luther King wanted us to show love towards each other. There was still racism going on when Dr. King was alive, and I think he wanted all races to not only be treated as equals but to also love each other. Although we rarely help one another, Dr. King wanted us to occasionally put others before ourselves. I believe he thought people should help others out no matter how they looked, but by the joy it would bring them. In Martin Luther King’s speech "I’ve Been to the Mountaintop," he said, " If I do not stop to help the sanitation workers, what will happen to them?" I think he was a tremendous person because not a lot of people would put a strangers feelings before their own. He just wanted America to learn how to be generous to one another and help others out in their time of need.
Furthermore, I deem that Dr. King wanted many things for our nation, but most of all I think he wanted us to live in peace. For some people, peace seems like a fantasy word, but in Dr. King’s eyes peace could have been a reality. If a handful of people put aside their evil ways and try to live through Dr. King’s vision, I believe the rest of the country would follow. We hold the power in our hands to change lives as doctors, fire fighters, and police officers, so we can change our nation and live in peace if we try hard enough.
