Martin Luther King Jr. Essay
Reverend Doctor Martin Luther King Junior was a strong black man. He wanted solace for all. Not just for blacks, but for every color of the skin. He wanted us all to be treated equal. That was his biggest dream. Doctor King was a very spiritual man and felt as though every problem could be solved by communication. To this day his name still "rings".
I believe that Doctor King thought America "ought to be" a nation filled with love. He was against crime and violence, which was one of the main things that existed back in his days. He felt as though people should be judged as a person and not by the color of their skin. Blacks were hated back then because of their color, and all he wanted was for everyone to be treated equal. Men, woman, even children who had a touch of color added to them got treated like they were less than human. Can you believe that? Children with color couldnt even get a good education because of the stereotype behind our names.
Do you think that people themselves still get stereotyped and that there is still racism beyond our country? I do, but thats not what I wish for, and neither did Doctor King. He wanted everyone to have their own say and for their words to be heard and actually mean something. Thats the reason why our society is the way it is today. These adults and children abuse our right, the little that we have. Doctor King didnt fight for our nation to turn out the way it is. With these sisters and brothers going around killing each other and adults throwing their lives away, not to mention throwing away the blessings they bring into this world. No! Doctor King stood for pride, determination, and peace because thats all he wanted. He is the reason why we have freedom of speech, the ability of colored folk to get decent jobs, and children receiving the education that they should have been getting.
If you ask me from my opinion, Doctor King thought America "ought to be" land of hope. Hope that kids can live to the age of forty, hope that adults can get good paying jobs to take care of their children so that they can get the education and medical help that they need. Because of Doctor Kings legends and results he gave me stronger pride in myself. I know how to make this Nation the way he envisioned it. Stopping violence, getting along with each other and showing that we care, helping each other out in the time of need. As long as we know "Hard work brings about good results" everyone could work to make this Nation the way Doctor King dreamt it to be.
