2008 Armed Forces Day at City Island to kick-off with 5K Run/Walk

The 2008 Armed Forces Day celebration on May 17th will kick-off with a YMCA-sponsored 5-K Run/Walk at 8:00 am just past the mini-train station and Carousel Pavilion on Harrisburg's City Island.

Race day registrations will be accepted on May 17th from 6:30 to 7:40 am. Entry fee is $20 if received by May 10; late registration fee is $25. The run will be followed by joint service military displays from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. For more information please contact Corey Smith at 232-9622 or email at corey.smith@ymcaharrisburg.org. Now in its 7th year on City Island, Armed Forces Day is a FREE, fun-filled family event that is a salute to both the men and women now serving our nation, and our veterans. AFD 2008 transforms City Island into a sprawling military base for the day and features an extensive array of military displays, exhibitions, information booths, musical guests, living history demonstrations, family and children's activities. Over 70 indoor and outdoor displays will be on tap this year.
